U.S. Grant Hotel in Downtown San Diego Celebrates 100 Years

U.S. Grant Hotel in Downtown San Diego Celebrates 100 years

The U.S. Grant Hotel in the Gaslamp District in Downtown San Diego celebrates that it is 100 years ago since they opened up their doors for business. A lot of history can be found here and as you walk around the hotel you will notice the old drawings and pictures on the walls of how the hotel once looked and of happy celebrations.

In 2004, the hotel found its new owner, Sycuan Band of Kumeyaay Indians who closed it for a two year renovation. $58 millions later they reopened the hotel in 2006.

Come on down to the U.S. Grant Hotel during Saturday (today) where they are celebrating with a party that is open for the public with “living art” displays by actors (one dressed as a fountain), cake and 100-day-old Manhattan cocktails.

There has been many ups and downs for the hotel during the years as with all the other hotels in Downtown but the U.S. Grant Hotel still attracts. Sycuan Chairman Daniel Tucker says We go down there and say wow, we own this, we own this full square block in San Diego, California, For us to say that, its a pretty good thing. I say…It definitely is.
