Is It Time to Ditch My Real Estate Agent?

When to Find a New Real Estate Agent

A great Downtown San Diego real estate broker is hardworking, knowledgeable about the downtown San Diego real estate market, and will never make you feel uncomfortable about the transaction. Unfortunately, not all agents are created equal. If any of the following ring true, it might be time to find a new agent.

1. You have trouble reaching your agent.

Buying a home is a serious decision, and your financial future may even be hanging in the balance. There’s also a very good chance that you are working on tight deadlines. If you find yourself frequently waiting around to hear back from your agent, it’s a good sign that it’s time to move on. Your agent may simply have too many clients and not enough time to give you the attention you need and deserve.

2. You don’t feel like your agent listens.

When you talk to your agent, does he or she ask you questions about your budget, the features you want, and the neighborhood you are interested in? It’s time to move on if your agent seems more interested in selling you on something instead of advising you.

3. Your agent is unprofessional.

There are many tip-offs that your agent isn’t quite on top of things. He or she may appear disorganized, cancel appointments, show up late, or make frequent excuses. If he or she isn’t invested in their career, they’re probably not invested in finding the right penthouse in Downtown San Diego for you.

4. You feel pressured.

Your agent’s job is to help you find a condo, loft, or penthouse that fits your needs and budget, offer advice, and guide you through the real estate process. Your agent should never use high-pressure sales tactics, encourage you to make an offer on a space you do not love, or show you condos that are well beyond your budget.

5. Your agent does it part-time, on the side.

When looking for a new condo, you want a full-time agent who is passionate and dedicated to their job. This means keeping up with the market on a daily basis, jumping on new listings you might love, and being readily available to you.

While bad agents are out there, you’re not necessarily stuck if you hire an agent who is not looking after your best interests. However, you certainly don’t want to waste time finding an agent who is organized, professional, and prioritizes your wants and needs.
