Downtown San Diego Breweries

Downtown San Diego has no shortage of fantastic breweries, which makes it a challenge to decide which ones are worth a visit, especially if you’re here on vacation or just moved to a new condo in Downtown San Diego. The breweries listed here go beyond great drinks and provide patrons with a real slice of urban living.

Ballast Point

Ballast Point is the second largest brewer in San Diego, and the Ballast Point location in Little Italy is the perfect place to indulge in its expansive selection of brews, including Serrano Pale Ale, Victory at Sea, and local fave Grunion. In addition to providing quality beer (and a few wines) for every taste, Ballast Point is kid-friendly and offers both unique food choices like PB & J wings as well as classics like the Ballast Point burger.

Half Door

For those seeking a relaxed atmosphere, good food, and great beer, Half Door Brewing Co in East Village Downtown San Diego is the place to go. The upstairs patio is many visitors’ favorite place to sit while enjoying popular brews like the Pot O’ Golden Ale, Grapefruit Radler, or Colemans Stout, and this Irish-inspired brewery also has a reasonably priced food menu.

Stone

The Stone Company store in Little Italy may not be the biggest brewery in town, but the ambience it provides makes it a top choice for many San Diego residents. Patrons can unwind on the patio, basking in the glow of fire pits while relaxing on chairs and couches and enjoying the brewery’s courtyard. Rotating taps provide adventurous guests with unique blends of beer that can’t be found anywhere else, and, as an added bonus, dogs are also welcome at this establishment.

Monkey Paw

Monkey Paw is possibly the most casual choice on this list for those who want fun, food, and beer at a great price. The food menu has vegetarian selections, music is always playing through the jukebox, and there are dozens of brews on tap, including Gibbon Back, Cornelius IIPA, and The Big Smoke, in addition to beers from other local breweries.

From food and fun to unbeatable brews, San Diego is a gold mine when it comes to quality breweries. Check out any of these gems in downtown for a guaranteed good time.
