Downtown San Diego July 4th Events

The July 4th holiday is much beloved by locals in all corners of San Diego, and we’re no exception. Even we press pause on buying and selling condos, lofts, and penthouses in Downtown San Diego to enjoy the spectacular parades, picnics, and accounts of heroism highlighted every year during San Diego’s Independence Day festivities. The downtown area will be in fine form and feature fantastic events and fireworks in various locales. Dress in your patriotic best, and take your pick of the fun venues below.

Star Spangled Pops
Date – July 3-5, 7:30pm
Location – Embarcadero Marina Park South
Cost – Lawn Seating – $28; Grandstand – $30; Midsection Cabaret – $43-$53

The San Diego Symphony pays tribute to our nation with a repertoire of rousing music. If you live in the Marina or Gaslamp District in Downtown San Diego, walk over to the outdoor concert featuring patriotic favorites, including “Stars and Stripes Forever” and “God Bless the USA.” Local American Idol star Jessica Sanchez will provide vocal accompaniment, and the evening will be capped off with a scintillating fireworks display.

Picnic Dinner and Fireworks Viewing
Location – Maritime Museum of San Diego
Cost – Adults – $35; Children ages 3-12 – $18

Enjoy a catered picnic on a stately historic ship this 4th of July. You’ll also have a perfect view of fireworks from the Berkeley ferryboat. The menu features BBQ chicken, hamburgers, coleslaw, potato salad, corn on the cob, watermelon, and double-fudge brownies. There are two dinner seating times, scheduled for 5pm and 7pm. After the meal, fireworks will be viewable from the ferry’s observation deck.

The cost of the picnic dinner includes admission to the museum and art exhibits. For those wishing just to see the fireworks, discounted tickets are available at a cost of $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 3-12. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.

Annual Big Bay Boom Fireworks Show
Location – Embarcadero Marina Park North
Cost – Free

This is the largest fireworks show in San Diego. Four barges lining the North Bay will launch a dazzling display. The show will be accompanied by music, broadcast by The Walrus 105.7FM. It will be viewable from any location on the waterfront. Looking for an ideal spot? Head over to Embarcadero Marina Park North right around the corner from some of the best real estate in Downtown San Diego. Be sure to arrive early to get a good space. Pack lounge chairs and food and prepare to be astounded. This show will feature the most advanced pyrotechnic choreography available.

Have a happy and safe Fourth of July!
