4 Fun Events Near Downtown San Diego to Take the Kids This Halloween

Families living in the downtown San Diego area will be happy to hear there are plenty of places nearby where they can safely take their kids to celebrate their favorite spooky holiday. The real estate experts at 92101 Urban Living have put together this list of 4 fun events taking place in or near downtown San Diego to take the kids this Halloween.

1. Halloween Family Day at Balboa Park

Located at 1549 El Prado, this spectacular park is hosting a Halloween Family Day on October 29th from 11am to 4pm. Highlights of this park-wide celebration include craft projects, mini-carnival games, a petting zoo, and costume contests with exciting prizes. When your little ghosts and goblins get hungry, they can grab a bite to eat at one of the many food trucks located throughout the park.

2. Trick-or-Treat on India Street

On October 28th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, you can take your adorable pirates, witches, and vampires for an evening of sweet and spooky fun of traditional trick-or-treating through the streets of Little Italy. Many businesses along the historic India Street will be opening their doors to hand out Halloween treats and candy. Maps of businesses participating in this event will be available.

3. The Boulevard Boo! Parade

Taking place at El Cajon Boulevard and 59th Street, this family-friendly, spellbinding parade with spooky floats, costumed characters, and bands will be held on October 29th from 10am to 12pm. It’ll also feature decadent treats and unique surprises for the kids. After the parade, there will be a Halloween-themed community carnival until 2pm. This carnival will offer your little gypsies and gremlins carnival rides and games, a photo booth where they can take pictures with their family and friends, face painting, and a character meet and greet.

4. Halloween Festival at the Central Library

Located at 330 Park Boulevard, the Central Library will be hosting a hauntingly fun Halloween Festival on October 29th from 1pm to 4pm. Kids wearing their favorite costumes can participate in a variety of Halloween-themed activities, which include a building-wide parade with treats given out on each floor, pumpkin painting, craft projects, and a magic show. Preregistration is not required, and parents must accompany kids under 8.
