Fall’s Best Home Decor Trends

By Mike in Downtown San Diego Urban Lifestyle with 0 Comments

It might not feel like fall in San Diego just yet, but October has officially arrived. Grab a PSL (you know you want to) and check out these fall 2015 design trends from Downtown San Diego real estate experts. These are sure to put you in the mood for temperate fall breezes and lazy afternoons in your beautifully decorated home.

Oversized Sectional Seating

Big pieces are back in style! This is especially true for the larger, luxury sectionals meant to seat family, friends and pets all at the same time. Solid colors—especially whites and creams (eek!)–are trendy right now, along with sectionals designed to be changed up on a regular basis to suit the mood or the season. Patterned throws and cool graphic pillows look inviting and cozy when artfully arranged on the sectional.

Cool Tones

San Diego doesn’t have much of a cold season (or any season besides ‘hot’), which may explain why cooler tones in the color spectrum are beginning to trend right now. If you don’t have the cool, crisp air outside, then bring in cool greens, blues, and grays to decorate your home. Several shades of blue are very popular right now, including turquoise, dark blues, and Greek blue, along with natural gray tones that bring to mind cool morning fog.

Black Window Framing and Sashes

Another trend this fall is painting the interior window frame and sash black instead of the traditional white. This draws attention and focus to the window. For homes with dark woods, stark white walls, or modern interiors, this can be an especially nice addition to the décor and a definite conversation piece. Plus this looks terrific with vividly hued curtains in a solid color or lightly textured.

Books As Art and Decor

Nothing makes a statement like a handsome bookcase or built-in that’s filled with leather spines or good quality hardbacks. For a shabby-chic look, consider perusing used bookstores for volumes from the 1950s or earlier. These tend to have cloth bindings that fade to subtle and attractive shades of red, green, or blue. Plus they have that wonderful old-book aroma.

These trends in home decor will definitely start your fall off the right way with a beautiful interior, filled with on-point additions to your attractive living space.
