Tomorrow is a big day for Downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. A new luxury hotel, Pendry San Diego, is expected to break ground on the city block between 5th & 6th Ave (W/E) and between Island Ave & J St (N/S).
This 12 story building will house 317 units, including studio, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom rooms. Nothing official has been announced yet, but room rates are expected to be between $250-$350 per night. The Pendry San Diego will be a “pet-friendly” hotel, allowing pets up to 35 pounds.
Not expected to be ready to open until 2016, residents on Gaslamp and East Village condo complexes such as Gaslamp City Square, Trellis, and Alta will have about a years worth of construction to look forward to.
