East Village Block PartyResidents of Downtown San Diego’s East Village were in for a treat this morning as the Padres opening Day Block Party took over J St from 6th to 10th Ave. Vendors and exhibits lined the street and as many as 30,000 people toured the action. Local bands were up on the main stage throughout the day performing current and retro hits for the crowd.

Red Bull made their debut at the East Village Block Party with an aerial show from three of their sponsored “BIG AIR” dirt bike riders. These riders definitely drew the biggest crowds and most attention as the soared through the air performing tricks and flips.

For the 21 and up, there was a beer garden with representation from Stone Brewery and others.

This event, put on each year by the East Village Association, has become one of the featured events in Downtown San Diego. Local businesses such as Basic Pizza, Bub’s, and The Blind Burro all look forward to the Opening Day Block Party as the signal that baseball has returned to San Diego.

Nearby residents of East Village Condos got a firsthand view of the action, and with free parking on top of it. Local condo complexes like Icon, m2i, Fahrenheit, Diamond Terrace, and The Legend were all within walking distance to the fun. This event, along with their proximity to Petco Park in general, have become one of the major selling points for buyers interested in purchasing East Village condos for sale. Depending on the orientation, many units at Icon, The Legend, and Diamond Terrace have views directly into the ballpark. Amenities such as the rooftop decks at The Legend and Icon are highly sought after for their views of the park as well.

All and all, it was another fantastic event. A special thank you goes out to the East Village Association for hosting the event. We are already looking forward to next year. ')}
