As you drive South on highway 5 towards Downtown, you will definitely not miss out on the 8 round circles you see in the Columbia District…this is the Westin Hotel. The 24 year old hotel adjacent to Horton Plaza in the Gaslamp District in the heart of Downtown San Diego has been sold for $110 million to the Maryland based Pebblebrook Hotel Trust. Pebblebrook will be investing an additional $23 million in a major remodeling of the guest rooms, public areas and meeting space. This is a continuing sign that hotel investors are coming back to San Diego since this is the third major sale of a prominent Downtown San Diego hotel in recent months.
