The Little Italy Association, in collaboration with San Diego State’s Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of Youth and Space, is hosting a fact finding event on Saturday, May 7th from 2-6pm at Washington Elementary. Fact finding event you say? Get this. Family and friends are asked to bring photos, documents and personal stories connected to their life experiences in Little Italy to share with SDSU students. As this memorabilia is shared, the students will document and catalogue these items as well as conduct oral interviews as a way to preserve all that downtown San Diego’s Little Italy has been to its residents. Now that is very cool.
If you, as an owner of a downtown San Diego loft or condo, have stories/photos/documents to share or know of any family or friends who do, please encourage them to make their way down to Little Italy. There will be complimentary refreshments and parking (now that’s a big bonus) for those willing to share for a good cause.
