Head to Blush Ice Bar in Downtown San Diego

If you haven’t checked out Blush Ice Bar + East-West Kitchen in the Gaslamp Quarter in Downtown San Diego, put it at the top of your to-do list.

Downtown’s newest resident is sleek, modern, and perfect for a night (or day) out. Snuggle up in a cozy booth or people watch on the breezy patio during happy hour. The main bar, accented with marble and glass, accommodates 40, so there’s ample opportunity for meeting up with friends or making new ones.

The Drinks

The drink menu features 14 craft cocktails. However, with 70 different spirits and countless fruit ices and purees to choose from, the possibilities for designing your own drink are endless. Blush is known for its beautiful presentations, but don’t let looks fool you: The generous 2-ounce pour of alcohol packs a nice punch.

The Eats

The East-meets-West menu is well rounded and thoughtfully designed. Items range from shareable small plates and salads to a 40-ounce T-bone steak that could easily feed a family of four. Asian flavors enhance succulent dishes like char siu smoked pork and jidori chicken wings. Crispy snapper, diver scallops, and yellowfin poke contribute to a nice selection of seafood, and oysters on the half shell are $1 a pop during happy hour.

Blush Ice didn’t overlook dessert, and neither should you. If you’re craving something sweet, white chocolate shiso mousse, yuzu meringue pie and several other temptations are perfectly up to the job.

The Happy Hour

Speaking of happy hour, Blush Ice is competitively vying for your business. Weekday deals from 3-6pm include half-priced draft beers and $5 build-your-own drinks. Snacks like short rib sliders and smoked duck breast baobob won’t set you back more than $6 or so.

Did you slip out of the office a little early? No worries. Every spot at the main bar is outfitted with a USB port and power plug for keeping your phone charged.

Another great bar and restaurant, another great reason to move to Downtown.
