Operated in partnership with the City of San Diego, DecoBike provides bicycles for shared public use. Users can either sign up as a bikepass-carrying member or rent a bike by the hour.
A standard membership includes unlimited 30-minute rides and costs either $99 annually or $20 monthly. A deluxe membership includes unlimited 60-minute rides and costs $199 annually or $30 monthly. There is a three-month minimum when you sign up for a membership, and your membership is ongoing unless you cancel it. If you cancel your membership before 90 days, you will be charged a cancellation fee.
Bikes are available to rent from any station, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The cost is $5 for a half hour, $7 for one hour, and $12 for two hours, with the option to pay $5 for each additional 30-minute period. Short-term rentals are also available online and give users unlimited 30-minute rides. One week costs $35 and 1 month costs $50.
DecoBikes are designed and equipped with you in mind. Bikes are made out of all-aluminum and stainless steel, have a self-generating LED lighting, an adjustable seat, and a custom basket. Bikes go through strict maintenance regularly in order to be available 24/7 all year round.
DecoBike’s goal is to provide 180 stations and 1,800 bikes within the City of San Diego. Currently there are around 100 solar-powered and automated stations, each of which typically holds 16 bikes. Pre-registration isn’t necessary. Just find a station and follow the instructions on the station’s multiple-language menu. Stations reach from Mercado del Barrio to Felspar Park. So there are plenty of options for you to get started using the fastest and most convenient way to get around the city!
