6 Halloween Events You Won’t Want to Miss in Downtown San Diego

By Mike in Things to Do in downtown San Diego with 0 Comments

If you enjoy celebrating Halloween, downtown San Diego is a good place to be in late October. During this time of the year, temperatures in San Diego dip a few degrees. You’ll still get plenty of sunshine, but the afternoons turn nice and fresh while the nights feel crisper, and these happen to be perfect weather conditions for Halloween events. Whether you live in a downtown San Diego condo or are from out of town, make sure to enjoy some fun Halloween-themed events this year. Here are six events scheduled to happen in the various districts of downtown San Diego.

1. Annual Trick-or-Treat in Little Italy

Halloween in San Diego is filled with parties, pub crawls, scary movies, plays, and other activities that are nowhere near as fun or wholesome as a traditional trick-or-treat. If you prefer a family-friendly Halloween celebration, head over to Piazza della Famiglia in Little Italy on Friday, October 26th from 5:30pm until 7:30pm.

2. Halloween Family Day at Balboa Park

Since October 31st falls on a Wednesday this year, the thoughtful staff at Balboa Park moved its Halloween Family Day to Saturday, October 27th. Nearly all museums will have special activities, candy, toys, and giveaways from 11am until 4pm. Children under the age of 12 don’t have to pay for museum admission on this day, and they can participate in the various costume contests.

3. Night at the Haunted Museum in Balboa Park

On the Friday night before Halloween, the Museum of Man at Balboa Park will be transformed into a haunted house complete with dance floor and party lounge. This event is for revelers who are at least 21 years old, and ticket prices start at $50. The best deal is the $99 all-you-can-drink bracelet, which includes a special donation to a local charity that seeks to enhance the lives of homeless youth in Southern California.

4. The WCKD Village

Several blocks in the East Village and Gaslamp Quarter will be transformed into a Halloween festival on October 26th from 6pm until midnight. The WCKD Village event features 19 stages, booths, and special attractions starting at 7th Avenue and Market Street. Tickets start at $30.

5. Halloween at the Hard Rock

Starting at 8pm on October 27th, the Hard Rock Hotel on 5th Avenue will feature three levels of dance music played by special guest DJs. General admission tickets cost $40, but you’ll get more of your money’s worth with the VIP packages.

6. Gaslamp Zombie Crawl

For just $75, a San Diego Zombie Crawl Ticket opens the door to 25 bars and dance clubs in the Gaslamp District on October 26th, 27th, and Halloween night. Revelers can crawl at their own pace or follow a preplanned route. They also get 13 shots along with snacks and beverage specials. Tickets are available at Club VIP on 835 5th Avenue.
