Downtown San Diego Hotel Project Given the Green LightA new hotel is on its way to Downtown San Diego, and the CCDC and Jonathan Segal are developing it. According to the article, “CCDC Approves Hotel Project at Fat City Site”, from the San Diego Business Journal, the Centre City Development Corp. (CCDC) has approved a new 364-room hotel project on site of the former Fat City/China Camp restaurant site. Located in Little Italy, the site will integrate the Art Deco-style façade of what used to be the Top’s Nightclub. The next phase is to bring the project to the attention of the San Diego Planning Commission.

The current project calls for a 239,000 square foot building that contains both a standard and all-suites hotels. The plan includes two pools, spas, meeting rooms, gym facilities, retail and restaurant spaces, and underground parking. Construction is scheduled for early 2013. This plan along with the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan will no doubt modernize a lot of things and make Downtown San Diego much more beautiful. ')}
