Lights Out in Downtown San Diego

Lights out in Downtown San DiegoDowntown San Diego Loft and Condo owners experienced something that I don’t think has ever happened in Downtown San Diego before. On Thursday, September 8th a main power line in Yuma, Arizona and San Onofre, California broke and electricity was interrupted to most of Southern California, Arizona and parts of Mexico.

As a Downtown San Diego resident, we experienced the gridlocked streets, no working elevators (which meant getting to know your stairwells), pitch black hallways, secured entrances that were no longer secure and streets as dark as the night. Nobody knew for sure when the power was to come back. Some of the local bars even resorted to candle light to remain open to serve residents and visitors.

Luckily the power was restored early this morning for most of Downtown San Diego and everyone seemed to have power before 6am. It’s quite a wake up call. What would we do without electricity? ')}
