Home Décor Trends Taking Off in 2016

By Mike in Urban Lifestyle with 0 Comments

Say goodbye to mason jars, burlap, and whiteboard walls. Those home design trends have become fads left behind in 2015. For 2016, builders, developers, and decorators are heading in a new direction, and these are the top five trends you’ll want to consider for your new Downtown San Diego loft.

1. The White Kitchen Returns

When it comes to interior spaces, no other tone is as dynamic as white, which provides excellent opportunities for contrast and is available in more than 90 shades. While the white kitchen remains a classic, in 2016 we’ll see white kitchens with an added kick, like mosaic bottom cabinets, colorful kitchen tile, and floor-to-ceiling bookcases.

2. Art Deco Revisited

Interior designers believe that it is time to revisit the elegant geometric patterns that combine the angular with the circular. From pastel colors to historic decorations and from wallpaper to ornaments, many condo owners will be inspired by the look of cities such as Miami Beach and Havana.

3. Artisan Decorations

Global trade is making it easier for artisans to reach international markets. In the past, major retailers such as IKEA have drawn inspiration from artisan designs for their mass-produced items. Starting in 2016, however, loft owners will notice actual handmade artisan crafts on the shelves of big-box stores.

4. Home Offices

Small business owners who manage their companies from home are leaving their dining room tables. In 2016, those who work at home will look into creating dedicated spaces that are truly separate from the rest of their household.

5. Smart Homes

The Internet of Things is placing home automation within reach of more condo owners. In 2016, appliance manufacturers will connect more of their products to the cloud, where property owners can control them with their smartphones or tablets
