New Restaurants Bring Exciting Choices to Downtown San Diego

By Mike in Downtown San Diego Real Estate with 0 Comments

Whether you already live here or have been checking out condos for sale in Downtown San Diego, you know new eateries pop up (and disappear) in the blink of an eye. Here are a few of our favorites, opening their doors to patrons this spring.

1. Mess Hall

Inside Liberty Public Market, the Menu at Mess Hall includes ingredients sourced directly from the Market, allowing for an ever-changing menu and wide variety of options. Mess Hall shares its space with Bottlecraft’s beer-tasting area, making for easy pairing and allowing them to offer special tasting events.

2. Flour and Barley

Brick oven pizza just begs for a cold beer. Choose from an assortment of house-made pizza toppings, enjoy fresh salads, and indulge in Italian entrees and appetizers if you’re not in the mood for pizza (hey, it’s been known to happen). And with 150 craft brews available for pairing, you’re sure to find a favorite.

3. Bugsy’s BBQ

Great barbecue finally arrives in Downtown San Diego. Bugsy’s pulled pork, St. Louis ribs, brisket, and smoked sausage have been hailed as authentic and bold. Treat yourself to some traditional sides, like potato salad and Carolina coleslaw, but save room for the homemade banana pudding!

4. San Diego Poke Co.

Just up the way from Downtown, San Diego Poke Co. has finally opened a storefront in Mission Valley. Get your poke fix by creating your own rice bowl, wrap, or salad and customizing it with your choice of fish and sauces, including the house umami sauce.

5. Salvucci’s Ristorante

The next adventure from RMD Group, Salvucci’s puts its focus on sharing plates inspired by the small town of San Donato, Italy. Handmade gnocchi and pasta Bolognese are favorites, but the spaghetti alle vongole should not be missed. Salvucci’s will also offer gourmet pizzas when it opens this spring in the space formerly occupied by Comun Kitchen & Tavern.
