Private Donor Jacobses Gives Huge Contribution to The New Downtown San Diego Library

It was decided a couple days ago that the new Downtown San Diego Library will start construction during one condition – to get private donations to fill up the money missing to finish the project. Qualcomm fundraiser Irwin Jacobs and his wife Joan has given the generous contribution of $20 million to get one step closer. There were also several other anonymous donors and so far $30.8 million has been donated for the construction and another $10 million to cover the library’s operating expenses in the first five years.

The new library will be situated in the East Village/Ballpark District in Downtown San Diego, east of the condo community ICON and south of the condo community Metrome. The Library will be just one block east of Petco Park, two blocks south of the new Thomas Jefferson School of Law and two blocks north of the new Harbor Bridge Pedestrian Bridge.
